To complete any of our Basic Life Support (BLS) courses, you will be expected to practise and demonstrate putting someone in the recovery position, and perform two rounds of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) which involves delivering chest compressions and may also include rescue breaths.

These practical exercises will require you to kneel on the floor. To perform chest compressions, you must also be able to position your shoulders over the casualty with straight arms and elbows locked, and use the heel of your hand to push the breastbone down firmly and smoothly.

Therefore you need to have a certain amount of physical fitness, and no health issues, injuries or physical limitations which may prevent you from completing these activities.

If you have any health concerns which you think may affect your ability to fully participate in the practical exercises, please email us, preferably before booking, otherwise at the time of booking, and we will make every effort to make reasonable adaptations so you can take part in all elements of the training.

Please be aware that if you cannot complete the practical exercises (with reasonable adaptations as required), we will not be able to provide a certificate of competence in BLS. We may however be able to provide a certificate of attendance.

If you have any questions or would like any more information about our courses, please get in touch.
